Just as the material world is controlled by laws, the human life is also bound by laws. Just as a knowledge of the laws of physics and chemistry help scientists to exploit the natural world, a knowledge of the laws of life can help a person to maximize his life-skills and life-attainment.

The only difference between these laws is that the laws that govern the human life cannot be taken to a physics or chemistry laboratory. Rather, they have to be recognized in the laboratory of one’s life and they need to be used effectively and in a timely manner to get maximum benefit.

The difference between achievers and non achievers is not the difference in education, wealth, family background, or things considered an asset. While such assets are helpful, they are not what really makes a person successful. The secret is in knowing the laws of life and in exploiting them at the right time. Here are the four laws

1. The Law of Opportunity: most people think that some people get more opportunities than the others. This is wrong. Actually every person gets plenty of opportunities, and there is no person who gets no opportunity at all. This is the law of opportunity — that every person gets more opportunities than they recognize or exploit.
Thus it is the lack of recognition and lack of exploitation of opportunities that keep people from progressing, and not the lack of opportunity itself. Once a person realizes this, and once he consciously starts looking for opportunities, he will be able to advance fast.

2. The Law of Time: time is definitely an important factor in success. Nobody can succeed in life without spending plenty of time on important goals. Yet, it seems to everyone that they have little time while others seem to have plenty of time. But this is a wrong impression.

According to the Law of Time, every person has an equal amount of time but some are able to get more of it because they are able to "manage" it better. They know what is important, and give more time to it. Others do not realize these things, and end up giving 80% of their good time for a mere 20% of tasks, and that also to the least productive tasks. You need to examine the way you use time.

3. The law of Cumulation: a small thing is a small thing, but when it is added in bits and pieces over a long period of time, the sum becomes unbelievably large. This is the law of Cumulation. The cumulative deposits in banks, where a person keeps depositing money in small segments, but keeps doing it for a very  long time to get a very large sum is based upon this principle.

Every attainment in life depends upon the law of Cumulation, but most people do not realize this. They want large results in a short period of time. Rarely only is this possible. It is more like small bits of addition for a long period of time, and then a very large outcome.

4. The Law of Accountability: whatever the field, there comes a day of reckoning. The judge will be either one’s officer, the society, or even the money that one is finally able to carry to one’s bank. Some laugh, jump, and dance on the day. Most simply weep and become bitter. One always knew the day was coming and used the first three laws. The other one knew, but still postponed action for the next day.

Laws of Life respect no one. They come to each person in equal measure. Those who exploit the laws get blessed by them. Those who ignore the laws get punished by them.

Almost everyone wishes to succeed in today’s race for success because one’s survival almost depends upon what one is able to attain. Many, however, take a haphazard route to success and what they wish never comes their way.

Success will come one’s way on a regular basis only if one approaches it in a systematic and consistent way. This is essential because random success does not carry one very far just as random waves do not always bring a sinking man to the shore.

The best approach to invite success is to sit back and take stock of one’s life. First of all, assess those areas in which one needs success for not everyone needs success in every area of life. An author does not need success in music, and a musician does not need attainment in sports. Nobody needs everything that looks like or that seems to promise success.

Note down the general aim of your life and the general areas in which you need success to propel you towards your general aim. If you wish to be an author, you need success in publishing your writings. Everything else is secondary. Jot down all those general areas in which you need success. Once you identify the general areas in which you need success, eliminate all those in this list that are not urgent or essential, for you can handle those things at a later stage.

Once you narrow down the list to six or fewer areas in which you need success, choose the three most important ones out of them. These are the areas which you need to start with. Once you succeed with them, you will go on to the next areas in the list.

Once you identify the three most important areas where you need immediate success, note down at least five to ten things that hinder you from becoming successful. For example, if your most important goal is to get a breakthrough in getting your articles published, you might also discover that you are unable to succeed because of one more more of the following reasons: inability to stick to a time-table, spelling mistakes, lack of information in the area in which you wish to write, dull language, etc. Once you identify the weaknesses, you are already onto the way of success because it is ignorance that keeps many people below their level of attainment.

Once you identify the areas of weakness, write down the order in which you need to overcome them. For example if self-discipline in writing as well as spelling mistakes are two most important areas, then work on self-discipline first. Without it you will neither be able to overcome the problem of spelling-mistake, nor the problem of timely writing.

Give yourself 21 days to overcome the first weakness. I say 21 days because most researches have shown that if something is done continually for 21 days, it begins to settle into one’s life and system as a habit. So if discipline is your problem, decide that for the next 21 days you are going to write for 30 minutes a day, come what may. Find the best time for it and stick to it. Do now worry about what you write, nor about whether it will get published. The aim is not to write articles worth getting published, but to get your life organized and disciplined.

Once the first 21 days are over, devote the next 21 days to continue with the first project but also add spelling into the project. Buy a good book that teaches you spelling and how to avoid common mistakes. By the time the 42nd day (the 6th week)  is over you will notice a change in your whole life and approach. Continue now to the next goal, and so on.

Success comes initially in small lumps. If you ignore them, the larger things will simply escape you. However, the moment you learn to pick up the smaller bits, you will find yourself picking up the larger ones without a correspondingly larger effort.

Keep working on your life. Rome was not built in a day. So is success in your life.

Five Minutes to Success

While some success in life is spontaneous, success never comes automatically if one is thinking of consistent success. Spontaneous processes do not distinguish between what is good and bad, and anyone who depends upon randomness to bring him success will find the the long run that what he desires has eluded him – because it also brings him failures.

One has to develop a strategy if one has to see consistent success. This strategy has to be with him all his life, with revisions and changes from time to time. Such a strategy is made up of several core components, that never change, and then several secondary components that depend upon the core components. One of the core components is time and promptness.

A person who responds promptly to his associates, clients and contacts is esteemed highly. Similarly, a person who reaches meetings, conferences, and personal appointments in time is also esteemed highly. What is more, over a long period such a person is likely to attract a loyal clientele.

The main problem main people find is is the busy life. Often they are able to leave only at the last moment. Then they get stuck somewhere and reach late. I have found that some people are able to beat this problem most of the time by a small technique. These people simply keep their watches 5 minutes ahead of time.

A watch running five minutes fast, or in advance of real time, does not look like much but often good things come in small and unnoticeable packages. It is the same here. It is based upon the observation that often 60 to 80% cases of delay are of less than five minutes. Thus if one’ watch is 5 minutes fast, one is able to reach 60 to 80% of appointments in time. The rest will get solved because of the habit this develops.

A person who consciously tries to reach a place in time will find in the long run that he is able to control his life consciously in such a manner that he is able to improve upon what his watch prompts him to do.

Five minutes is a small segment of time, but those 5 minutes can mean a lot to you in the long run. Try it today itself. I have tried it, and never regretted it.

Advanced Magnetic Memory

Practically anyone can develop a magnetic memory, provided he has the determination to do so. The concepts are not difficult to make it rocket science and the work is not tough to make you climb the Himalayas. So what is needed is only commitment.

If you have not already read You Can Have a Magnetic Memory (part 1) and You Can Have a Magnetic Memory (part 2), you should definitely read them. They are available under my name on this website, and will give you the essential background. Once you read them and once you follow the very easy steps mentioned there, you will find it easy for the first time to remember names, faces, and places.

While your attainment of remembering names, faces, and places and to recall them instantly will amaze people, this is only the beginning. You can now go to higher levels of memorization, but with the same ease as before, for attaining professional excellence, social acceptance, and wide influence in the society. Here is the strategy:

Make a list of things that would help you impress others in your profession. This might include production statistics, names of products, geographical information, book names or book summaries. For example, in my profession, laws of physics are very important. One does not deal with all these laws in study, teaching, or in research, but just knowing the laws creates sensation amount physicists when a discussion is going on. I participate in a number of conferences and symposia for experts in physics. A broad (but not necessarily deep) knowledge of the laws creates a tremendous impression and appeal wherever I attend a meeting of physicists.

Similar effect can be seen in any professional, business, or other field where one has to deal with people. Just imagine a medical doctor who has a command over disease names, a businessman who can easily identify his customers and the items sold to them, an electrician who can identify complex circuitry, or a minister who quote from the Bible without a second thought. Sky is the limit for such men who have information at their fingertips.

This looks difficult, but it is not. If you are willing to carry a small diary in which you jot down all important info as your see it, and if you are willing to browse through it whenever you are free, you will be able to amaze others. The trick is in identifying what is relevant to you, rejecting the rest, and committing it to memory in small and effortless steps over a period of time.

Pick up a small diary and start it TODAY itself. Soon you will touch the sky!!

Once you decide what all information you need to remember, prioritize them. Order them into a list. No problem if the list is fairly long as long as you keep in mind that you will advance only one to three steps a time to cover the list and that there is no instant formula to cover the whole list.

Now follow the following proven techniques:

1. Repeat in your mind any information that you wish to retain, as soon as you hear it, be it names, data or anything else. View the person, object, or place several times in your mind.

2. Always carry a very small pocket diary and note down those bits of information. Review the information several times a day when you are doing nothing, or when you want a minute of diversion from normal work. Let the diary be an inseparable tool.

In about 3 weeks you will notice a remarkable improvement in the amount of information that you have been able to retain. This may seem like a long time to wait, but please remember, just as the hardest part is to get a stationery vehicle to move, the first steps are the hardest. But the next steps will be far more easy and the more that you use this technique, the more the next step will become.

Add three more items in this list of to-remember things in the fourth week. Do the same two things with them mentioned earlier. This time you will notice that you need only two weeks to master them. Keep adding to this list as soon as you are able to master the last 3 items.

Keep doing this. Do not think you have arrived and do not abandon it. In about 3 to 6 months you will notice that your family and friends are now amazed at the way you are able to recollect facts and information. Now you have arrived. Keep it up, and your magnetic memory will help you in every aspect of your life.

Now is the time to go to higher memory-based pursuits, such as reading a book once and remembering it. While an average person will find it impossible to do this, you can now do it if you simply summarize each chapter of the book mentally and in writing, using the two techniques that you used to master your memory.

The key is to tell your mind that you wish to remember this information. The next key is to give a summary to your mind, which it will use to recall much more than the summary.
